What pots and pans you should not use on a glass top stove?

The glass top stove makes for a beautiful, sleek addition to any kitchen. They are subtle, stylish, easy to clean, and flat-faced. However, the glass can also be scratched and discoloured easily. Hard impacts will crack this surface, so care must be taken when a glass top stove is in use.

Glass top stoves, in particular, should only be used with select pots and pans. It requires you to find the right type of cookware for this stove. Aside from best pots and pans for glass top stove, you also should know the material to avoid, ensure that you don’t damage your new cooktop.

#1 Glass or Ceramic cookware

They are the first material of cookware that is not recommended for glass top stove. Glass is a poor conductor of heat so cooking times will be longer and they may scratch the surface of the glass top stove. Ceramic cookware must not be cook over a medium high heat.

We recommend never cooking with ceramic and glass cookware at extreme heat as they have a higher probability of melting when exposed to the high cooking temperatures on a glass top cooking surface. When that happens, it is very difficult to remove the molten metal from the surface.

#2 Cast Iron

Cast iron cookware can be danger for your glass cook stove. cast iron tend to scratch the glass top with their coarse outer surfaces. Additionally, Cast iron absorbs heat slowly. When you cooking with cast iron cookware at high heat, they will hold the intense amount of heat and then transfer to the cooktop.

This sustained high temperature can cause the entire cooktop to overheat and potentially turn off. It does not only ruin your cooktop but also be dangerous for you.

#3 Stoneware

You’ll want to avoid rough materials like stoneware. They can easily scratch glass top stoves and leave marks that are difficult to remove. Not only that, stoneware may put excessive weight on the stove. If they are dropped or slight jolted onto the top may result in a permanently damaged glass top.

#4 So what is the best pots and pans to use for glass top stove?

The best material for cookware for glass top stove is a matter of personal preference. Personally, I prefer to use stainless steel sets for my glass top stove. Stainless steel cookware is durable, resilient and do the great job of transfer heat from glass top heating elements.

If you do not use your pans in the oven, you also can use aluminium cookware for your glass top as well. They are lightweight and totally safe that do not damage your stove top.
